TVXQ and KARA are nominated for the Japan Record Awards 0

TVXQ and KARA have been selected as winners in the Japan Record Awards for Best Works.
On November 19, the Japan Composers’ Association, in charge of the Awards, announced the list of the winners and nominees of the Awards. On the list were TVXQ’s “Why? (Keep Your Head Down)” and KARA’s “Go Go Summer.”

Ten songs that have been selected as Best Works are nominees for the Grand Prize of the Year. Among these ten nominees are Japanese girl group AKB48, Kana Nishino, AAA and more.

2NE1 has been nominated for the Best New Artist. 2NE1 will also vie for the Best New Artist on the day of the event along with other nominee miu0214MIU, Super Girls, Fairies and more.

The Japan Record Awards is privileged annual award accredited by the Japan Composers’ Association. Last year, Big Bang won the Best Works, and SNSD won the Best New Artist.
The award is to air live on December 30, from 6:30 p.m. through TBS.

KARA attracted attention by releasing their diet secrets on TV.

On SBS’s Victory aired on the 9th, KARA visited the diet challengers.
For the challengers who wanted to know about KARA members’ diet secrets, Han Seung Yeon mentioned about her secrets first, “I eat well usually but don’t gain weight as much as I eat. It goes to the bottom part of my face instead. Once I feel that I’m gaining weight, I do a running machine and jump rope. Since I’m a dance music singer, I sing loud while doing the running machine.”
Park Gyuri released her secrets next, “I think it’s always good to exercise as much as I eat.” To the question of how many hours she works out a day, she answered, “I do a cycle one hour and a running machine one or two hours if I just want aerobic exercise, but I also work out my muscles for at least more than a hour,” saying that she puts efforts into exercise.

KARA is making a special guest appearance on KBS’s Let’s Go! Dream Team 2 for its 100th anniversary special.

According to KBS on the 7th, KARA made a special guest appearance even though it was the day of their comeback show in Korea.

The staffs said KARA members participated in couple games with other male groups members.

The challenge in the program was proceeded with 6 steps, which were the hardest out of all challenges in the program, having produced several dropouts so far. Chances are given twice to the challengers and the last top 5 will have a final match.

Let’s Go! Dream Team 2′s 100th anniversary special will be aired on the 9th.

KARA to launch their first official online fanclub since debut 0

2011 has been a roller-coaster ride for both KARA and their fans due to the threat of disbandment that haunted the girls earlier this year. Yet they’ve emerged from this threat with stronger bonds to each other and with their fans, and so to celebrate a successful turnaround, the group will be opening their first online fanclub since their debut in 2007.

KARA’s comeback album ‘Step‘ has been sweeping charts from the get-go, and KARA expressed thanks to their fans for helping them achieve great success. “Even though our domestic album promotions are short-lived, we are grateful for all the love, support, and attention we’re getting from our fans. We want to use this online fanclub as an opportunity to get closer with all of them.”

KARA’s online fanclub will open registration between late October and early November. Those who enroll will receive official fanclub cards as well as special perks, such as designated member lines at concerts, fanmeetings, and broadcasting recordings.

KARA’s Gyuri cries as she wraps up her final episode of ‘Shimshimtapa’ 0

On October 3rd, KARA‘s Gyuri officially wrapped up her DJ-ing activities on MBC FM‘s ‘Shimshimtapa‘.

Her overseas schedules with KARA led to a lot of absences, leading Gyuri to personally make the decision to depart from the show. Although it was her decision, she couldn’t hold back her tears as she wrapped up her final episode after a year and five months.

Gyuri stated, “Being a DJ is a precious position that I could never replace with anything else in my life. On my final day, all of our PDs, writers, and fixed guests all came together, which I heard was something that rarely happens. Thank you so much for always being there for me.”

She continued, “This radio show means more to me than just work. I think every morning, I’ll feel empty and out of place when I’m not in the radio booth like I’m meant to be. It will be hard to escape that feeling. If I receive another such opportunity, I’d love to return as a DJ. My dream is to work as a DJ for a long, long time, for over 20 years, and hopefully one day receive the Golden Mouth award.” 

Gyuri will be starting her ‘200 Pound Beauty‘ musical in Osaka, Japan from October 8th.

KARA had reached #1 on Japan’s Recochoku mobile weekly chart for the most ringtone downloads with their Korean song, “Step”.

On September 29th, as “Step” secured 1st place on Recochoku’s ‘Daily Digital Download Chart’ as well – a difficult feat to accomplish with a non-Japanese song. In addition, DSP Media announced that KARA’s 5th Japanese single, “Winter Magic”, also secured the #1 spot for ‘Ringtone Downloads Chart’ on the same day.

On the September 26 episode of KBS’s talk show Hello, when asked if who was the prettiest of the members, Goo Hara was pointed out. Park Gyuri, largely called “Goddess,” made a bitter expression on her face.
