The four-girl group 2NE1 was decided as the winner of New Artist Prize of the 53rd Japan Record Awards. It attracts much attention as to whether 2NE1 will win Best New Artist Prize following Big Bang who won the prize in 2009.

Japan Record Awards is one of the most renowned year-end music awards in Japan. They announced prize winners for the 53rd awards.
The list of prize winners includes 2NE1 as one of the winner for New Artist Prize along with Itoh Miyu, Super Girls and Fairies.

The winners of the Awards for Best Album, Best Singer, Best Songwriter and Best Arranger are released through an official announcement late November, and they are awarded in an awards ceremony to hold in late December.

Among the winners of New Artists Prize, Best New Artist will be named in the ceremony. That’s why much attention is being drawn on as to whether 2NE1 will receive the prize against stiff competition with other Japanese rivals.

2NE1 climbed to the top position on the Oricon Daily Album with its first mini-album, released on October 21, and completed its first Japan Arena Tour with great success.
Big Bang, belonging to YG Entertainment along with 2NE1, received Best New Artist of the 51st Japan Record Awards in 2009.

The eligible list for Grande Prize features ten candidates including two Korean singers: TVXQ (“Why? – Keep Your Head Down”) and Kara (“Go Go Summer”).

The winner of Grand Prize as well will be named in the awards ceremony to hold on December 30. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the TBS network.

The 53rd Japan Record Award is known to put more focus on the artistic value of their works, not to mention the influence they had on the music industry that year.
