TVXQ (pronounced “Dong Bang Shin Ki”) is still causing tidal waves in the Japanese music industry. The male duo released its new album titled ”Ton” on September 28 and the album hit #1 on the Japan Oricon daily sales chart, a position TVXQ continues to hold. In its first full week of sales, “Ton” sold over 250,000 records and secured the #1 sales ranking on the Oricon weekly sales chart as well. This fact is especially significant because TVXQ has become the overseas artist with the highest album sales in Japan during the first week of the album’s release. In fact, this K-pop star boy band is only the second overseas artist to achieve album sales of more than 200,000 during the first week. The previous holder of this record was Bon Jovi who sold a little over 200,000 copies with its May 2000 album, “Crash”; this was 11 years and four months ago!
TVXQ is also the top #1 position grabbing overseas artist with 9 weeks spent atop of the Oricon weekly singles sales chart. This K-Pop group suffered severe heartbreak and setback in 2009 when three of its original members departed the team, however, the Japanese public’s continued support of TVXQ can be clearly seen through TVXQ’s recent album sales figures. TVXQ’s current members are Yunho and Changmin.
As one of the best loved faces of the K-Pop movement, TVXQ is set to headline Billboard’s first KPOP Masters Concert in Las Vegas scheduled for November 25, 2011. The show will be sponsored by the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will feature between 8-10 of K-Pop’s brightest stars.

Huh Gak reaches the summit again!
When asked about the secret behind his newest song’s success Huh Gak replied, “Everyone has at once time experienced love and the ensuing separation. I believe the lyrics of this song draw on those cherished past memories lying dormant in my listeners. Whenever I perform this song, I try to immerse myself in the song and take my listeners with me.” In addition, Huh Gak admitted to still being in a daze regarding his recent success. He added, “I still feel the same as when I was competing on “Superstar K”, but now people tell me how they love my song and it just feels great. I want to break the stereotype that TV audition show winners cannot have long and successful careers.”
